We're based in Crofton, and how far we travel depends on the kind of work.
Homeowners paying us directly: there's no hard boundary. Anne Arundel, Prince George's, Howard, Baltimore County and Baltimore City are where we are every day, but we regularly run 45 minutes to an hour out from Crofton, and we've gone farther when the job made sense. Home warranty claims: those are limited by our contracts to Anne Arundel, Prince George's, Howard and Baltimore County and Baltimore City. Outside that, your warranty company will assign someone else.
Commercial work: we travel farthest for commercial customers, including into Washington, DC and Northern Virginia, where we work under the licensed contractor on the project. Full details on the service area page.

Do you charge to come out and look at the problem?
For most jobs close to our Crofton shop, no — we'll come out, look at it and tell you what it needs. On some calls — usually longer drives, or a diagnosis that takes real time — there is a $120 trip charge. It is applied to the repair when you approve the work, so you never pay it on top of the job. There is never a trip charge on a home warranty call.
I was sent to you by my home warranty. Will you charge me a trip charge?
No. Mayes doesn't charge a trip charge on home warranty calls — not on any of them, from any warranty company. If there's a service fee on that call, it's your warranty plan's own fee, set by your plan, and it differs depending on which plan you have.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Maryland License #21861, and we carry liability insurance. You can ask for a certificate any time.
What areas do you serve?
It depends on the work. For homeowners paying us directly there's no hard line — Anne Arundel, Prince George's, Howard, Baltimore County and Baltimore City are our daily ground, and we'll travel 45 minutes to an hour out from Crofton without thinking twice. Home warranty claims are contract-limited to those same counties. Commercial work reaches farther still, including Washington, DC and Northern Virginia, where we work under the project's licensed contractor. If you don't see your town, call and ask.

Yes — American Home Shield, 2-10, HWA and First American. It's a large part of what we do. We explain how those claims work on our home warranty page.
What are your hours? Do you do emergencies?
Emergency service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week — call the office number any time and choose the emergency option after hours; a real person picks up. The office itself is open Monday through Thursday 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM and Friday 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM for scheduling, estimates and everything that can wait until morning.
